So far, multiupload is the only one I've seen that if you just sign up for the free account, it will stop pop ups. Some popups open on top of the current Firefox window while others appear underneath Firefox (pop-unders). They vary in size but usually dont cover the whole screen. Mediafire has also had malicious pop ups as well. Popup windows, or popups, are windows that appear automatically without your permission. Mbam identified it, but needed a computer reboot to finish getting rid of it, and when I rebooted, the virus started first and shut down Mbam. Only the new AVG 2011 finally got rid of it. A fake "microsoft security essentials alert" trojan infected my system from one of their pop ups and set itself to run before all other programs on start up and blocked all of my firewalls and anti virus/spyware programs from starting. Then last week on megaupload one got through. Then my anti-virus started notifying me that the pop ups were attempting to infect me with trojans. It started for me when I got those 'cyclical' pop ups that you couldn't close like someone mentioned before. Megaupload has gotten more and more malicious. Sites are getting desperate for cash and now pretty much don't care who they let by pop up ads on their sites.

Sorry, but I can personally attest that is not completely true. So as of now, I'm avoiding on using Megaupload. So I just quit Firefox altogether.Īgain, these popups appear only when I click the D/L button on the Megaupload page. basically only allowing/waiting for me to click "Next" on it. I tried to exit out of the popup window, but the textbox prevented me from exiting. click the next button and fill our your info, etc). A textbox appeared from that, and it said something along the lines of "congratulations Megaupload visitor, you're the winner for March 10th. The popup appeared but it was blank this time. And the last popup that appeared was about some survey (maybe it was called Completesurvey?).

I think one was advertising a site to view one of the newer movies, it had an image of the movie but I closed the window without reading the whole thing. Is there's any popupblockers/Firefox addons that will do the yeah they're ads. But that doesn't seem to help against popups that appear from mouseclicking. As a side effect, it can stop pop-ups on Firefox. Hi I know firefox has a built in popup blocker. This means Firefox’s Tracking Protection blocks page elements that read and collect your activity and then save that information to a database.
